At the heart of Botswana’s charm and wilderness lies the world’s biggest inland delta, the Okavango. This is primal African wilderness that casts a genuine spell on all lucky enough to visit it. Either side of it, in Chobe National Park and the Makgadikgadi Pans, Botswana also boasts two incredibly singular and equally impressive destinations, Chobe known for its unique elephant sightings and Makgadikgadi for its expansive salt pans and unique wildlife.
A safari in the breathtaking land of Botswana is like none other. With its soaring baobab trees and huge elephant population it’s better known as The Land of the Giants. Botswana puts its animals before its tourists and prides itself on high-cost, low-volume safaris, which results in fewer tourists, less infrastructure, and thus a wilder look and feel – as it naturally was. Because of the sparse population and controlled tourist numbers, you’ll enjoy the natural wild beauty all to yourself and have access to unreal photographic opportunities. This low-impact approach to tourism lends itself to the country’s unspoilt landscape where you can witness big cats, wild dogs, large herds of elephant and spectacular zebra migrations – the longest land mammal migration in the world!
With its unique habitats and intriguing locations, Botswana is an ideal safari destination all year round. For bird watching, the summer months are best as all migrant bird species have arrived from northern climates. For wildlife safaris different parts of the country are abundant with all animals at different times of the year. The peak of the Okavango Delta floods is in August and September. The best time to visit Botswana depends on the experience you are wanting to have.
On our trip, Josh and Saffa Tours put together an amazing itinerary, based on what we were into, and they provided us with an absolutely incredible trip. My wife and I love to travel, and have worked with many groups such as Saffa Tours; this trip was, by far, our favorite tour, and Saffa was the best guide group we’ve ever used.

We cannot thank Saffa Tours enough for making our precious time in the Cape the best it could be. I cannot recommend Josh and his company Saffa Tours enough, as they made our time in South Africa in the Cape absolutely amazing and we were looking forward to the holiday because of the great preparation.

Absolutely brilliant trip to Cape Town and around the Western Cape with Josh and the Saffa team. Perfectly and thoughtfully organised, full of insight and fun. Could not recommend more!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. Well worth the cost visiting in the Cape area where there are so many things to do. Lightyears ahead of what a larger tour group would be able to put together. From small details to adjusting the daily itinerary on the fly.

Never have I encountered such organization, such fire for exploration - to show and to teach, and such willingness to adapt the bespoke tours and plans offered at any moment. We felt understood, we felt appreciated, and we felt that our best interests were always put first.

Amazing tour company. Josh helped plan our itinerary around the activities we wanted to do. Due to weather conditions a couple of the activities were cancelled but there were alternatives ready straight away. Rich was our guide and he was a joy to be around. Highly recommend!
