CAPE PENINSULA CRUISE
(CAPE OF GOOD HOPE)
CAPE PENINSULA CRUISE (CAPE OF GOOD HOPE)
This tour begins at 8am when you will be promptly picked up from your accommodation. As the sun rises, the tour drives through
Green Point, Sea Point, and Clifton with beautiful views over Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles mountain range.
Passing Camps Bay strip, a trendy area bustling with cocktail bars and ocean-facing restaurants, the tour goes by Llandudno beach and then down to Hout Bay.
After leaving the valley, the tour makes its way onto Chapman’s Peak Drive – rated as one of the top ten most scenic drives in the world. On Chapman’s Peak, you can take some photographs before continuing. The next part of the journey is to the ‘countryside’ of Noordhoek, the sleepy surf town of Kommetjie and along a coastal road.
The quaint villages of Misty Cliffs and Scarborough can be seen before the tour comes to The Cape of Good Hope – a craggy headland jutting out on the Atlantic Coast. Part of the Table Mountain National Park, this world-renowned landmark is home to a varied collection of wildlife. Your expert guide will expand on the history of the area while you take in the sights at the most southwestern tip of Africa. Here you will have lunch in the outdoors, on the tip of Africa (weather dependent).
Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town is the following stop and you are able to get well acquainted with the African Penguin. Upon entering this idyllic beach in False Bay, learn about this rare species of penguin, found only off the coastlines of Namibia and South Africa.
The subsequent destination is one of many old fishing villages on the Atlantic Seaboard – Kalk Bay. This characterful seaside spot is brimming with thrift shops, art galleries and cheerful cafés. If the weather permits, classic fish and chips are on the menu for lunch at the local favourite Kalkies, set right on the harbour, in front of bobbing boats and friendly seals.
En route back to the city, the tour will take a scenic road past Muizenberg Beach – a popular spot for learning to surf. You will then be driven back towards the southern suburb, past the University of Cape Town, Groot Schuur Hosipital and dropped off at your accommodation by approximately 5-6pm.
“This Cape is a most stately thing and the fairest Cape we saw in the whole circumference of the earth” – Sir Francis Drake, 1580
